The "Soroka Brain Center" currently evolving at Soroka Medical Center inspires to break down walls among medical and research disciplines in order ultimately to provide optimal multidimensional care for patients suffering from brain disorders. Cutting edge brain research also requires breaking down walls, those between brain clinicians and brain scientists. In a unique collaborative effort involving the Soroka Brain Center and Clinical Research Center together with relevant departments and units at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, we are in the process of establishing a Brain Disease and Health Research Hub, promoting collaborative research among basic researchers from multiple academic disciplines and clinicians from multiple medical professions.
The first meeting of the Hub took place in July 2016, bringing together 52 senior researchers and clinicians, setting an exciting platform and launch for future activities. We saw a great deal of need, interest and excitement about the establishment of this common platform for discussions and collaborations. The Brain Hub has the potential to nurture a unique and groundbreaking program in translational research that would foster an ideal integration of basic and clinical research. There is potential to create an internationally recognized institute at the heart of creative brain research that would of course also attract significant competitive research funding.
We are respectfully seeking a grant in the amount of $500,000 to support the first two years of the Brain Disease and Health Research Hub. For more information please call our office at 914-725-9070 or email us at AmericanFriends@Soroka.org.
Prominent donor naming and recognition opportunities will be provided.
