Six months ago we celebrated 10 years of impact at the American Friends of Soroka (AFS) annual gala. Over the decade, we have proudly heralded the opening of the Legacy Heritage Oncology Center and Dr. Larry Norton Institute and the Francis and Nathan Kirsh Trauma Center and Emergency Department, and the installation of The History of the Star of David at Soroka. These are 3 of many important developments on the Soroka Campus, examples of how Soroka Medical Center is fulfilling its commitment to the Negev Region.

It is a privilege and an honor to serve as the President of American Friends of Soroka Medical Center. Over the years, I have been inspired by the impact and changes that our support has made to this principal hospital in the south of Israel. With our dedicated board and supporters we have championed clinical research, contributed to the Legacy Heritage Oncology Center and Dr. Larry Norton Institute, witnessed the installation of a monumental artwork in the healing garden, supported the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and contributed to the Emergency Trauma Center.

With the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines, real optimism is now warranted and we can anticipate better times ahead.
