The Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit

The Negev area, with its nearly one million inhabitants, is known for the young age of its population. Unfortunately, some of these youngsters become ill, are injured in accidents, or suffer from burns. Most of them are successfully treated at Soroka's Saban Pediatric Center and following their hospitalization many are in need of rehabilitation in order to return to full functioning.
Since the nearest pediatric rehabilitation center is over 150 kilometers away from Beer-Sheva, it is almost impossible for children, who must be accompanied by a parent, to receive proper rehabilitation care. We know many families are forced to abandon any chance of their children receiving rehabilitation treatment because of the great distance between their homes and the nearest pediatric rehab facility. This is why we must ensure that pediatric patients who need rehabilitation treatment have a facility that addresses their needs close to home, in the Negev.
Our goal is to help all children in our care to reach the highest level of physical, cognitive, and social functioning possible so that they can enjoy their childhoods. We believe that success means restoring each child's potential as far as possible to what it was prior to illness or injury. Pediatric rehabilitation medicine helps children with conditions that affect their motor development to adapt and return to their lives with optimal functionality.
The pediatric rehab team, like the adult rehab team, consists of specialists, each trained to address different needs. Rehabilitation medicine includes doctors who are board certified in rehabilitation medicine for children, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, therapeutic recreation specialists, social workers, and psychologists.
The Pediatric Rehabilitation floor including inpatient department can be named for $4,000,000. The donor's name will be prominently displayed.
