At Soroka, some 85 Holocaust Survivors are hospitalized each day. In 2021, approximately 3,000 Holocaust Survivors with various diseases, diminished mental and physical functioning, and severe loneliness, were hospitalized. The proposed program includes the establishment of a cadre of student volunteers, students of medicine, nursing, and various other health professions to uniquely address these concerns and to work with Holocaust Survivors to tell and document their stories. This team will accompany and support Holocaust Survivors in a home setting to provide relief from feelings of loneliness and increase Survivors’ sense of social belonging.
