
On Monday, October 18, 2021 American Friends of Soroka Medical Center celebrated Tomorrow’s Health Today Gala at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York City, honoring Mr. Pedro Lichtinger and Dr. Jay E. Selman. These two extraordinary leaders were recognized for their dedication to careers that advance global health and alleviating human suffering. The gala spotlighted Soroka Medical Center’s global impact on medical and scientific research and successes in fostering innovation in the service of saving lives. Funds raised at the event support a new Innovation Center and new Clinical Research Center in Israel’s Negev.
Dr. Jay E. Selman, recipient of the Inspired Leadership Award, is a powerhouse of wisdom and compassion. A pediatric neurologist, he is a part president of the board of AFSMC, and currently leads the AFSMC Medical and Scientific Advisory Council. Pedro Lichtinger was the recipient of the Healthcare Champion Award, in recognition of his outstanding global leadership in the biotechnology & pharmaceutical industries. He states that his career “ is directed by the belief that innovation is always at the heart of advancement in medical science”.
